I purchased this palette for my daughter for Christmas. She was very excited about receiving it. It’s February now and the pallette case has not withstood the test of two months’ time.
First, when I received the delivery and opened the pallette to inspect the contents before wrapping, one of the shadow wells fell out.
Second, my daughter wants to return the pallette because more wells have fallen out and the hinge has come off.
My teen takes care of her make-up, and the packaging for this eye shadow needs more thought put into it, or re-engineering and re-enforcements. She’s going to handle the return. I hope Coastal Scents has a good customer service policy.
If they don’t, then my daughter had better save up for a few of those magnetic pallets reviewed on Koren’s Enkore vid clips.

I have a few of the Coastal Scents products and this is one of my favorites. It might seem like a lot of neutral colors and you may wonder…well why do I need 88 of them? Great question!
I use these colors for every day looks and costume looks as well. The different shading I can do on something like a skeleton is great when there are so many different shades of brown and grey. It is a lot easier to shade with already pressed colors than to blend it out using only black and white.
I use the ashy brown tones to fill in brows. They are also good to use as contour colors.
The warmer colors are great for lower lid colors.
The skin toned colors are good as brow bone highlighters and for highlighting the plains of the face that you want to stick out like cheekbones, cupids bow, inner corner of the eye, and the chin or higher jawline.
There are some downsides. I mean it is ~$20 so you can’t expect amazing pigmentation, though it is good. Also you will find that most shadow palettes have a tendency to be delicate and this one is no exception.
I do find the packaging to be better than similar palettes that I have sourced from China – this one has a good sized mirror and the shadow pots haven’t come unglued like they have from other wholesalers.
Overall I highly recommend this palette to anyone who uses makeup and is on a budget.

But poor packaging. Like another reviewer mentioned the palette is rather flimsy. Seven of my shadows fell off all @ once and some feel loose. The hinge also came off on mine but you can easily put it back in place. I used super glue and glued my shadows back in their corresponding spots. Nonetheless I still love this palette and prefer it much more over my shimmer one. It not only has browns but peaches, plums, golds and bronzes, various highlighter shades as well as greys and silvers. You can even use some of the brown shades for contouring. My favorite one is a blue with golden shimmer on the bottom left. I highly recommend this palette. Besides the flimsy packaging, I also noticed these shadows have a strange smell but it’s not so bad as to not wanting to use them. Go ahead and give these a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I prefer neutral tones when it comes to eyeshadow. I also purchased the regular 88 color palette and although I like both of them, I get more use out of this one. The colors are fantastic. So many different shades and I like that some of the colors are shimmery. I would recommend this to anyone! If you were to go out and buy all these shades, you would spend a small fortune. Truly worth the money.

I purchased this palette along with the matte and shimmer palettes. I LOVE THEM!!! The variety of color and staying power is amazing. The glide on smooth and soft. I recommend if you can purchase all 3 kits, you’ll be glad you did!
